St. Pete Pier and Lunch at Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grill

Greetings Fellow Sharks,

Have you been up to St. Pete’s yet to see the magnificent new pier? https://stpetepier.org/  Its 26 beautiful acres that combines the peaceful blue waters of Tampa Bay with the vibrant greenery of downtown St. Petersburg. The Pier and surrounding park is the ultimate place to stroll, bike, dine, drink, shop, or swim.

When:  We will meet on Saturday, July 1 at 10:45 AM, at the McDonalds on Laurel. We’ll leave at 11:00 for the short drive (40 minutes on I 75) to the Sunshine Skyway rest stop where we will make a quick pit stop, then back on the road for the short drive (30 minutes) to the St. Pete Pier.

The pier has 500 on-site parking spaces for a nominal $2 per hour.

First, we will have lunch at Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille which is right at the pier.  After lunch, explore the pier and surrounding park at your leisure.  Shop, have a beverage at the rooftop bar, or just wander and enjoy the lovely views.  Return home on your own schedule.

Time: Caravan meets at the McDonalds on Laurel at 10:45 AM for 11:00 AM departure.

Duration:  4 hours approximately

Dining: Doc Ford’s https://www.docfords.com/st-pete-pier/ is a casual restaurant located right at the Pier and is owned in partnership with New York Times best-selling author, Randy Wayne White.  He is best known for his crime novels featuring the retired NSA agent Doc Ford, who lives on the Gulf Coast of Southern Florida.

Cost: Lunch per menu choice
